Periods of human history that our children only know from textbooks and literature. This could be the story of Cleopatra, or a key event of the 20th and 21st centuries, communism, revolutions, criminal themes, or even the seven-day human stories of the past.
We are therefore looking for these historical films in the “Feature Film” category. But we are also launching an “Experimental Film” category, because we want to welcome films that take a non-traditional approach to history, not just those that are made from a realistic perspective. We also welcome innovative works in the documentary category, and the same applies to the “Short Historical Feature” and “Short Documentary” categories. The Animated Film category has also received many excellent entries in recent years.
We also welcome dance films.
The festival will take place in Pápa, Hungary. Pápa has a significant Hungarian historical past, and its present-day image is representative of this. We would like to organise the festival in a historical atmosphere, in a place where everything is in place for the creators to have a good time. Modern accommodation, yet streets with a historic atmosphere. A huge castle for receptions, yet a modern cinema for screenings.
The jury is made up of top international film professionals. We really hope that there will be no epidemic and that nothing will prevent us to be together for a few days and to meet freely in this beautiful city from 26-30 April 2023!
